Join us on board our research yacht, Silurian, as we depart from Mallaig, in the Scottish Highlands, to monitor the rich Hebridean seas. This unique eco-tourism expedition is like no other in the UK; explore the wilds of the Hebrides, have some awesome wildlife experiences, make fantastic friends and join a community of people getting directly involved in the conservation of whales, dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks.

This research expedition falls at the start of summer, so we will be monitoring resident populations and recording the arrival of our seasonal visitors.

With rendezvous in Mallaig, this survey could allow for the exploration of seas around the the Isle of Skye, the Small Isles (Muck, Eigg, Canna and Rum) and out to the Outer Isles (Barra and the Uists), although the area covered is dependent on the weather conditions and survey coverage to date.

Summer in the Hebrides is a wonderful time with long daylight hours. Sea birds are returning to land to nest and breed, and seasonal visitors to our inshore waters are starting to arrive. Generally the weather is more settled in spring, which allows for easier conditions to survey.
