Teamwork and technology help monitor Scottish Seas

Scottish Entanglement Alliance (SEA) project partners, including staff from the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust have successfully completed a two-day drone operator training course, delivered by US-based non-profit Oceans Unmanned.

As part of their freeFLY Drone programme, Oceans Unmanned trained the team in the use of drones to support large whale entanglement response efforts in Scotland. The course also covered environmentally conscious operations of drones, to protect and limit disturbance to marine wildlife during research and monitoring projects.
