WISE TRAINING
Standard WiSe Course for professional boat operators looking to minimise disturbance on marine wildlife in Scotland.
This online Standard WiSe course is part of the national WiSe Scheme suite of professional courses. The aim of the WiSe Scheme has always been to promote responsible wildlife-watching through training, certification and awareness-raising.
The Standard WiSe course has been developed to be the WiSe Scheme professional standard for boat operators to help them minimise disturbance to marine and coastal wildlife. The modular course will be delivered over two consecutive evenings and will be run by the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trusts Sightings Officer and Senior Science Officer on behalf of WISE.
Course content will focus on interacting safely with whales & dolphins (cetaceans), basking sharks, seals and seabirds, and specifically how to minimise disturbance of these species. Each of the sessions will be a mixture of presentational material followed by an opportunity for questions and short quizzes on the material just presented.

Please note attendance is required at both sessions in order to receive the Standard WiSe certification.

Trained individuals are added to the WiSe website following receipt of their signed declaration.
A WiSe Scheme course sticker and logo will be supplied for promotional use to all participants, along with copies of all Codes of Conduct.
Refresher training is required for all after 3 years to maintain WiSe certification
