DESCRIPTION
Join us on board our research yacht, Silurian, as we depart from Mallaig to monitor the rich Hebridean seas. Alongside our resident species, like porpoise and bottlenose dolphin, this expedition will monitor the seasonal visitors to Hebridean seas, such as minke whale and common dolphin.
Rendezvous in Mallaig allows for the monitoring of the seas off the Small Isles, Skye (and its surrounding islands, including the Sound of Raasay – the deepest inshore waters in the UK), Barra, South Uist and the Inner Minch.
Summer in the Hebrides is an awe inspiring time. The daylight hours are long and nature takes full advantage of this with creatures foraging to feed their young and lay down fat stores for the winter months ahead.
COST: £930 deposit (50% of the total cost) is required to secure your berth on board, with the remaining payment invoiced 100 days before the start of the expedition. The total cost of participating is £1,860 per person - this includes all food, accommodation (on board) and specialised equipment for the duration of the expedition but excludes transport costs to and from rendezvous.
