Big Give Success!

We are jumping for joy!

We are jumping for joy!

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE BIG GIVE CAMPAIGN. IN TOTAL, £7,887 WAS RAISED FROM 119 DONATIONS! WE ARE INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO DONATED. WITH YOUR SUPPORT THE VITAL DATA COLLECTION PROGRAMME CAN RESUME ON BOARD OUR RESEARCH VESSEL, SILURIAN.

Last month HWDT was selected to take part in the first-ever Big Give Green Match Fund! This meant that for one week only, we had an amazing opportunity to get back out on the water, with every donation received matched by the Big Give. We were blown away by your support, reaching our allocated match funding target in just 7 hours!

Your support means that we can continue our vital work monitoring and protecting cetaceans on the west coast of Scotland. We have already sprung into action and Silurian’s anchor has been raised, with our crew taking to the seas to collect data at this vital time of year. You can follow her journey live by clicking the link below

The start of Joint Warrior, Europe’s largest military exercise, means that monitoring at this time is more critical than ever and will help us to understand the impact that these military activities- in particular sonar- may have on cetaceans in the Hebrides. Read more about our concerns here.

During the campaign, there was also a chance to win a trip onboard Silurian. If you donated to the campaign stay tuned! The winner will be announced very soon.

If you feel that you can support us at this time, we would urge you to please consider joining us on board Silurian next year, become a member, adopt a minke whale or killer whale, or alternatively make a donation towards our conservation work.
