Marlow Ropes pledge their support as a Corporate Supporter
The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust is delighted to announce our latest Corporate Supporter, Marlow Ropes, the high performance rope-maker, who have generously donated ropes and rigging gear for the pioneering cetacean research vessel, Silurian.
For the last 16 years, Silurian has travelled thousands of miles every year off the west coast of Scotland to conduct ground-breaking research on whales, dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks. Our findings, which contribute to the conservation and protection of UK cetaceans, are of global importance and recently featured in the BBC’s Blue Planet Live.
Marlow’s reputation in the Leisure Marine and yachting industry is world renowned and the British manufacturer are providing tough, durable and easy handling lines. Their donation to Silurian includes the main, mizzen and Yankee halyards, sheets and kickers.
Marlow Ropes specialises in the design and manufacture of technically innovative rope products using the very latest technical fibres. The Marlow brand is known and respected in markets around the world from yachting to military, commercial marine and working at height amongst others.
Marlow is fully committed to environmentally conscious practices and recognises that its activities will have an effect on both the local and global environment. Marlow ensures that negative effects are minimised as far as is practical in-line with their Environmental Policy.
This generous donation comes on the back of a winter of maintenance work onboard Silurian, including the full renewal of the standing rigging, that has ensured that Silurian is in excellent condition for the 2019 season.
