Guided walk to Tobermory Lighthouse

Join our expert guides for a gentle walk along the coast to Tobermory Lighthouse as we take in the nature and wildlife around us.

Take a walk and take in nature. Our friendly and informative guides invite you to join us for a relaxing nature walk along the coast from Tobermory to find out more about the wildlife that can be spotted around Mull.

Tuesday from 10:30am - 12:30pm

Thursday from 2pm - 4pm

Meeting in front of the Hebridean Whale Centre, amongst the brightly coloured houses of Tobermory's Main Street, we will follow the coast round to nearby Rubha Nan Gall Lighthouse. Along the way we will be on the look out for some of the incredible wildlife right here on our doorstep. You are invited to ask questions, share your experiences, or simply unwind and enjoy the wildlife.

This walk is a well loved by HWDT's staff. Porpoises are regularly spotted from this walk, so we will be keeping an eye out for this lovely marine species. Otters, sea birds and eagles are among some of the other favourite wildlife that might be spotted. Even if we don't spot your most sought after species, this guided walk will help you develop skills to go on and spot more wildlife afterwards.

Throughout the walk we will record wildlife spotted using our citizen science app Whale Track to help monitor local marine life. We will help you discover how to get involved in collecting data to deepen our understanding of the marine environment and aid conservation efforts.

These walks are suitable for all ages, and our guide will tailor the content to your interests, age and prior knowledge. Walks will vary depending on the wildlife around us and your interests and questions, but a variety of species, habitats and history will be explored and discussed.

Please wear sensible footwear, and, since this is Scotland, we would advise that you bring waterproofs.

Bring binoculars if you have them, but if not we have a limited number available to loan from Hebridean Whale Centre. This is a photogenic walk, so cameras are welcome. Please ask permission before taking photos of other participants on on the walk, and tag us on social media to share your experience.

Friendly, quiet dogs are welcome, but we ask that they are kept on a short lead throughout.

Tobermory lighthouse path is uneven in some places and may not be suitable for wheelchair users, however prams, pushchairs and buggies may be able to join. If you have any questions or mobility concerns please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss this further.

If this event is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, we will get in touch with you the day before to let you know. You will be fully refunded.
